Jessica McCaskill trainer Rick Ramos has ruled out a potential fight against Britain’s Natasha Jonas.
Ramos responded on Twitter to a clip of Jonas’ promoter Ben Shalom saying he wants the Liverpudlian to fight the American McCaskill next at 147lbs.
With a hint of sarcasm, Ramos wrote, “I would like to be 6″5 and 200lbs.”
News broke this week that Eddie Hearn had sent Team Jonas an offer to rematch Terri Harper for all the marbles at super-welterweight.
Jonas has said she only wants to fight the big names in the final stages of her career, with McCaskill one of said names listed by promoter Shalom.
Harper’s trainer Stefy Bull responded to Ramos’ tweet with a tongue-in-cheek comment of his own.
“Jobs f*cked. 147, don’t think some fighters have the options they think”, Bull poked at Jonas.
Harper and Jonas fought to a controversial split-decision draw back in 2020 down at super-featherweight.
Jonas felt she deserved to take the WBC title that night and a rematch failed to develop.
Hearn explained to Matchroom Boxing‘s YouTube channel on Thursday that the reason a second fight didn’t happen was because they had “other plans” for Harper who was eager to unify at 130lbs.
A unification bout failed to come about and Harper surrendered her title in a second-round knockout defeat to Alycia Baumgardner last year.
Jonas meanwhile left Matchroom to sign a promotional deal with BOXXER and Sky Sports which has seen her pickup the WBC, WBO and IBF titles at super-welterweight.
Harper claimed the final piece of the puzzle at 154lbs when she beat Hannah Rankin for the WBA belt in September.
