Mikael Lawal will now face Scotland’s David Jamieson for the vacant cruiserweight title on November 27th at Alexandra Palace.

Lawal was set to take on Deion Jumah for the belt before the latter was forced to retire after suffering a second detached retina.

The news cast immediate doubt over whether Lawal will get a shot at his first major title as a pro less than two weeks out from the card in the capital.

BOXXER and Sky Sports acted swiftly however and East Kilbride’s Jamieson will now fill the slot to challenge for the Lord Lonsdale belt.

The fight will mark the second time the pair have faced-off after Lawal overcame Jamieson in a three-round contest in an Ultimate BOXXER tournament three years ago.

The loss remains Jamieson’s sole professional defeat in ten outings and the Scot will no doubt relish the opportunity to get revenge over twelve rounds this time around.
