On March 24th, Lyndon Arthur (21-1, 15 KOs) gets a shot at the vacant IBO light-heavyweight world title against Argentinian Braian Nahuel Suarez (18-1, 17 KOs). The event will be promoted by Wasserman boxing and shown live from the University of Bolton stadium on Channel 5. When discussing his link up with Wasserman in an interview with BBTV, Arthur stated – “They’re showing me love that I feel like I deserve” and “They want me to do well”.
After his defeat to Anthony Yarde in 2021, coming off the back of a split decision win to the Londoner in the previous year, Arthur has stopped his last two opponents in clinical fashion.
Arthur will be looking to put on a performance on the night of his world title fight in order to get himself back into the mix with the big names of the light heavyweight division-including the likes of Artur Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs), Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs) and Callum Smith (29-1, 21 KOs). With Beterbiev holding the IBF, WBC and WBO world titles and Bivol holding the WBO, if Arthur is successful on the 24th of March he is set to be placed among those names with unification fights looming- “The light heavyweight scene is exciting right now… there’s so many fights to be made.” Arthur told BBTV.
