“The aim is another big fight this year, I’d welcome Janibek to the UK, I’d fight anyone of these top middleweights. If (Gennady) Golovkin wants another fight at middleweight I’m ready. I’ve beaten one hyped-up Kazak so I may as well carry on beating them.

Jimmy Kelly Jr (26-3, 10KOs) is back in the ring tomorrow night (Wednesday 22nd Feb, around midnight UK time) LIVE on Pro Box TV and the Mancunian is ready to put on a performance against the Dominican Republic’s Edward Ulloa Diaz (13-4, 10KOs) at the Whitesands Events Centre in Florida.

Kelly, 29, has fought his last two bouts in the States prior to this, he had a great victory and one that was considered a big upset, when he outpointed the highly touted and unbeaten at the time Kanat Islam (29-1, 22 KOs) in February last year, before going on to challenge Jaime Munguia (41-0, 33 KOs) unsuccessfully in California in June, although Kelly lost to Mexican star Munguia, he gave a very good account of himself up at super-middleweight.

Kelly Jr discussed the experience of tackling Munguia and spoke of his hopes for 2023, “I’m excited to be back in the ring, but I learned a lot from Munguia. I reminded myself I can compete at that elite level. Oscar De La Hoya told me after it I can be a world champion, so to hear that from him gave me a lot of confidence. “Skillwise I know I can compete with the best of the world and I’m still getting better.

“I’m maturing in and outside of boxing, and I’m focused on the big names like Janibek (Alimkhanuly) (13-0, 8KOs). That’s the fight I want, he’s slowing down, I’m still improving, and I’d love to punch another Kazak’s head in.” Sampson Boxing and Paco Presents Sign Mexican Duo The Manchester native features exclusively on ProBox TV this Wednesday night at midnight UK time, and opened up on his ring return.

Kelly Jr stated, “I’m buzzing to be back on ProBox TV and thank you to Garry, James and Chris for getting me back in the ring against a kid who has a good win over Mark DeLuca, so I want to show I can smash this kid up and use him as a measuring stick to the rest of the division.

“I see myself on a world level, so tune in to ProBox TV on Wednesday night and I’m going to show that I’m still improving as a fighter and that I’m ready to finally become world champion at 160.”

Before Jimmy left for America he spoke to BBTV about this fight in a video interview (below) Plus Jimmy gives his views on Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury having sparred many rounds with Fury.

We also have spoken to Jimmy this morning on the phone from his training camp in Florida and asked him how he is settled in there and how he is feeling a day out from the fight?

“Yes I’m feeling ok thanks, a bit tired, keeping the weight off and it is pretty hot over here in Florida, bit different to Wythenshawe this time of year!” Kelly joked to us, referring to his Manchester hometown.

“I’ve been received well as usual, it is my third fight in a row over here and I have always done well. My last two opponents were both undefeated big names and I did ok!” added the humble Kelly.

“I’m fighting a kid tomorrow who is 13-4 (wins to losses) and has had a couple of upset wins himself on his record, but I’m expecting a good performance from myself a good eight rounds if I have to but if I perform the way I have in the gym then I should get him out of there! Do that, come home and then I’ve got some good bits of news coming my way!” added Kelly.
