Former super-featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer will make her lightweight debut against Greece’s Christina Linardatou on April 15th.
The fight has been added to the undercard of Joe Joyce‘s heavyweight showdown against China’s Zhilei Zhang at London’s Copperbox Arena.
Mayer’s last fight, also in London, saw her lose a narrow grudge match against Alycia Baumgardner for the unified titles at 130lbs.
The Californian has been calling for a rematch ever since but will step-up to 135lbs in the meantime to take on two-time world champion Linardatou.
The latter has also fought on British shores before having lost wide over ten rounds to Katie Taylor for the WBO super-lightweight title in 2019.
Taylor vacated the belt shortly after before Linardatou outpointed Prisca Vicot to becoming world champion for a second time.
The event will also see Denzel Bentley defend his British middleweight title versus Kieran Smith, while Dennis McCann and Sam Noakes are also set to feature.
