Bethnal Green’s iconic York Hall Leisure Centre will again witness a domestic title clash as Jordan Purkiss (5-0-0, 1KO) and Ramez Mahmood (13-2-0, 2KOs) collide for the vacant English title on Friday.

Both men have previously held belts at Southern Area level.

Essex’s Purkiss, who is yet to taste defeat in five professional outings, defeated Ryan Walker last time out to claim the Southern Area bantamweight crown.

Mahmood meanwhile beat Jack Budge at featherweight to land his first major title before losing the belt against Chris Bourke 10 months later.

The 28-year-old Mahmood previously challenged for the English strap against Jack Bateson in 2021.

The Newham man lost a wide points decision on the night but Mahmood enters Friday’s clash having fought at the higher level of the two.

Super-welterweights Jack Martin (6-1-0, 2KOs) and Shaquille Day (15-2-0, 2KOs) are also set to trade blows for the vacant Southern Area belt at 154lbs.

Martin suffered his first pro defeat when challenging the belt against Jordan Dujon last year before the latter vacated his title to take on Harry Scarff at the end of the month.

Day previously reigned as English champion at welterweight in 2019.

Light-heavyweight Gyiamh Sheth and cruiserweight Petrit Shehe are both set to make their pro debuts on the card in the capital.
