Dalton Smith returns to his home city of Sheffield as he looks to unify the British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles against Sam Maxwell.
The Sheffield Arena will host the showdown on July 1st as the pair meet two months later than originally planned.
The pair were initially set to face-off in April before a cut sustained to Smith’s right eye in his bout with Billy Allington two months ago forced the fight to be pushed back.
Despite the delay, Smith now looks to make the third defence of his British belt since he won it with an eighth-round stoppage of Sam O’Maison in August last year.
Points decision victories over Kaisee Benjamin and Allington have since followed but Smith now faces his toughest test yet against Commonwealth champion Maxwell.
The Liverpudlian claimed the British and Commonwealth crowns with a unanimous decision win against Akeem Ennis-Brown in August 2021.
Maxwell vacated the British strap to gain a shot at the vacant IBO belt at 140lbs before he was stopped in the ninth round by Alejandro Meneses.
The 34-year-old returned to the ring in February with a comfortable six-round win over Shaun Cooper in his first fight back since reuniting with Paul Edwards at Salisbury ABC.
Maxwell told BBTV in March: “All the pressure’s on him. We’ve seen it with a few fighters in the past where there’s a lot of pressure and they don’t live up to it.
“It’s my job to pick out his weaknesses, I’ve got a great coach in Eddy so we’ll have a look at him and pick out a gameplan to beat him. I feel like I’m the man to do it.”
The card will be shown live on DAZN in the UK.
Updates regarding the undercard are expected to come at a later date.
