Amir Khan is in LA at Freddy Roaches gym, training for his upcoming light-welterweight unification fight with Zab Judah on July 23, and recently took time out to speak to ESNEWS giving his view on the thriving British boxing scene and his fellow UK boxers.
British Boxing is on an high at the moment, we’ve got five world champions in the country and its only a small probably the size of a state in America and to have that many champions is brilliant.” – Amir Khan
“You’ve got myself who is fighting Zab Judah which is going to be an explosive fight. Then you’ve got David Haye fighting Klitschko, that’s another big fight in the heavyweight division that we’ve not had for a long time. Khan told Elie Seckbach.
“We’ve got Carl Froch who is in the Super Six and will be fighting Andre Ward which could be very exciting and we know both fighters look unbeatable.
“Then you’ve got Darren Barker, who I was in the Olympic team with as an amateur and I’m good friends with him as well and he’s fighting Sergio Martinez.
“Darren is a very clever fighter picks the right shots and he’s explosive as well and powerful.”
“Then you’ve got Ryan Rhodes fighting Canello in Mexico. I think hes got to probably knock Canello out to win the fight, It’ll be very hard, Canello as come on a lot.” he added.
