Carl Frampton says a win against Leo Santa Cruz would take him “to a new level”.

The Belfast fighter faces the Mexican world featherweight champion in New York on Saturday, aiming to become the first Northern Irish boxer to win world titles at different weights.

“On the world stage no fight compares to this one. This takes me to a new level – I’d create a bit of history,” he told BBC Sport’s boxing correspondent Mike Costello.

“This is undoubtedly the toughest fight of my career. He’s relentless, but I punch faster and harder than him and I think that will be the difference on the night.”
