Carl Frampton ready to claim world title – Cyclone Promotions

TITANIC SHOWDOWN’, headlined by Kiko Martínez and Carl Frampton battling it out for the IBF World Super Bantamweight title, will be broadcast in China and live in Brazil on the 6th of September. The biggest Boxing event in Northern Ireland’s history takes place at a purpose built outdoor arena in Belfast’s historic Titanic Quarter. The event is headlined by one of the most intriguing title fights of the year when Belfast’s Carl ‘The Jackal’ Frampton challenges former foe Kiko Martínez for the Spanish champion’s IBF World Super Bantamweight title.

In what is sure to be an explosive rematch Frampton will get his well deserved World title chance in front of his adoring home fans and it is now official that ‘The Jackal’s’ first World title fight will be broadcast to millions of Boxing fans in China, via a tape delay and live in Brazil. Speaking about the global broadcast for his forthcoming bout Frampton seemed hungrier than ever to get his hands on the World title belt, “It’s simply fantastic that this fight will be going out to so many people globally. China is an untapped market for Boxing and the sport is growing at a phenomenal rate over there with Manny Pacquiao having recently fought in Macau and more shows planned.”

The man known as ‘The Jackal’ continued, “It is testament to the excitement of the first fight between myself and Kiko that there has been such interest in this contest. I have worked so hard throughout my career to get to this point and I can’t wait to box for the World title in such a unique setting and in front of my home fans, the best fans in the World.”

Cyclone Promotions CEO Barry McGuigan echoed Frampton’s sentiments about the huge outdoor arena show, “This is a global event. ‘TITANIC SHOWDOWN‘ on the 6th September will be the biggest Boxing event Belfast has ever seen in terms of the global interest it has generated. It is going to be such an exciting show, I believe that Martínez vs Frampton will be one of the most exciting World title fights you will see this year!”

Jamie Conlan stars on the Belfast undercard in toughest test to date

Belfast’s Jamie Conlan will box for the second title of his career when he takes on Filipino prospect Daryl Basadre for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Super Flyweight title on the undercard of Martínez vs Frampton 2, ‘TITANIC SHOWDOWN’, Saturday the 6th of September at Titanic Belfast in the city’s historic Titanic Quarter.

Jamie Conlan – Belfast prospect – Cyclone Promotions

The undefeated Belfast man boxes a man from outside of Europe for the first time in his career and in Basadre faces his toughest test to date. Conlan, 12(8) – 0, will be taking a step up in class when he trades blows with the younger Basadre for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental title on the undercard of the IBF Super Bantamweight World title clash between Kiko Martínez and Carl Frampton outdoors in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. The announcement of Conlan vs Basadre follows last week’s announcement by Cyclone Promotions that fellow Belfast hopeful Marc McCullough is set to defend his WBO European Featherweight title against former World Champ Dmitry Kirillov, also on the undercard of Martínez vs Frampton 2.

Undefeated Belfast Super Flyweight sensation Conlan is currently on a career high. The current WBO European champion has gone from strength to strength this year having collected his first title with a decisive seventh round stoppage of Belgium’s Benjamin Smoes in April at the Odyssey Arena. Conlan then went on to dominate Hungary’s Gabor Molnar in his first defence of that Euro strap at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on June 20th. In just over three weeks time Conlan faces the toughest test of his career as he makes the step up beyond European level and boxes up and coming Filipino Daryl Basadre for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Super Flyweight title. The WBO number eight ranked Super Flyweight will be required to put in the best performance of his career against the dangerous Basadre if he is to lift the coveted WBO Inter-Continental belt as this contest looks set to be a genuine 50/50 fight between two power punching prospects.

Daryl ‘Flash’ Basadre, 12(9) – 1 – 1, is one of the most exciting Super Flyweight prospects in the Philippines at present and will be travelling to Belfast with both the vacant WBO Inter-Continental strap and Conlan’s unbeaten record firmly in his sights. The twenty-one year old boxer from General Santos City has stopped nine of his twelve victims and is undefeated as a Super Flyweight. In fact Basadre’s only ever loss was at Bantamweight against former WBC World Super Flyweight champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisai in the latter’s homeland of Thailand. Since that setback last year Basadre is undefeated in his last three, all by way of early knockout, and it is clear that the young Filipino star is intent on using this exciting undercard bout as a springboard onto the World scene.

Meanwhile Belfast’s Conlan is relishing the chance to pick up the second title of his career and take the step beyond European level, “I’ve been waiting for a chance like this for years. This fella looks like a decent boxer who can bang a bit too but I’m one hundred percent confident that I will prove far too much for him. I need to be fighting at this level as I’m now number eight in the World and soon I will be hopefully knocking on some doors. I can’t wait to box outdoors on this massive show and prove to the Belfast public that I belong at World level. I want to thank Cyclone Promotions for this opportunity and I am fully focused on taking that belt home!”

Cyclone Promotions CEO Barry McGuigan is delighted that he could secure twenty-seven year old Conlan such an exciting fight, “This contest is going to be explosive! Basadre has boxed a former World champion and never lost at Super Flyweight, he’s without a doubt Jamie’s first acid test but its one we all believe Jamie can win and win in style. This is the perfect opportunity for Jamie Conlan to show the World what he’s all about, he’s a very exciting talent who Cyclone Promotions believes can go a very long way, and now it’s time for Jamie to prove he can mix it with the best Filipino and Mexican Super Flyweights.”

Conlan vs Basadre will take place on the undercard of ‘TITANIC SHOWDOWN’, headlined by Carl Frampton’s challenge for the IBF Super Bantamweight World against champion Kiko Martínez on Saturday the 6th of September at Titanic Belfast, in the city’s historic Titanic Quarter. ‘TITANIC SHOWDOWN’ will be shown in high definition live and exclusively in the UK and Ireland on BoxNation, the World’s only dedicated Boxing channel, SKY channel 437/HD 490, Virgin channel 546.
