It is with great pleasure that MGM announce the signing of Ireland’s Michael Conlan on a management contract. Following on from Michael and Matthew Macklin’s recent meeting with (his promoter) Bob Arum, we are delighted to be working with Top Rank, as this exciting new chapter in Michael’s career gets underway.

Michael enjoyed phenomenal success as an amateur and represented his country with distinction throughout that period. An impressive record shows an array of gold medals in the 2015 World Amateur Championships, 2015 European Amateur Championships and 2014 Commonwealth Games. His list of accolades also includes bronze medal in the 2012 Olympic Games and Silver medal in the 2013 European Championships.

The recent controversy of the 2016 Olympics cast a shadow over Michael’s amateur experience, however pushing forward he is excited to begin the next chapter in his career.

“I am delighted to confirm my decision to turn professional. I cannot wait to get started and believe MGM are the perfect team to guide me to the pinnacle of the sport. I’m proud of my amateur achievements, however, I look forward to what I can achieve as a professional. I want to become Ireland’s greatest boxer ever” he said.

Michael’s amateur achievements reflect the ability he possesses, a talent which has resulted in him becoming one of boxing’s most sought-after prospects. His decision to turn professional has been widely anticipated and MGM are delighted to welcome him to the team.

“Michael’s ability is clear for everyone to see. He has a style ideally suited to professional boxing and we believe there is no limit to what he can achieve in the sport. Michael had several options available and we are delighted he has chosen MGM to help him achieve his ambitions” MGM Management commented.

Details of Michael’s debut will be released in the near future.
