Liverpool’s David Price knocked out Ivica Perkovic in the second round in Neubrandemburg, Germany. The awkward looking Croat was on borrowed time from the opening bell and was floored by a clipping uppercut followed by a left hand in the opener.
Price, 278 3/4lbs, who looked noticeably looser and more relaxed than in recent fights, pawed with his jab and looked for an opening for the right hand. 2.10 into the second, a big left hook to the solar plexus forced Perkovic to turn away and the referee had no option but to wave the fight off.
Price (21-3, 18KO’s) will now look for a bigger challenge. “It was about getting back into the ring, back under the lights and going through the fight day routine,”Price told Sky Sports. “It was worthwhile. I wanted to get a little bit of something from it. I didn’t get my jab off as well as I would have liked but it was a worthwhile exercise.”
