As trainer fighter relationships go the one between talented prospect Junior ‘Majestic’ Thompson from Liverpool and his trainer Dee ‘The Hat’ Taggart from Strathroy, the famous estate in Omagh Co. Tyrone, is seems to work a treat. Two different men on the same mission, to prove their worth in the fight game we all love.
Junior is best described as a slick counter punching southpaw with a eye for creative angles and his trainer Dee presides over him with an intensely watchful eye and no nonsense methodology. The passion and engagement from the pair of them is infectious, they study the sport and seek to hone their craft.
But times have been hard and opportunities even harder to come by. This doesn’t seem to have deterred Junior who told British Boxers “I have taken it in my stride” and “used the time wisely to work on things and apply my craft.”
A quietly confident fighter, Junior is also a black belt martial artist but insists that when his big chance in boxing comes he will grasp it! “I’ll systematically break them down and hurt them, I won’t rush my work even though I’m in a rush to get back into the ring,”
His trainer, a former fighter himself remains philosophical. “It’s never hard work for me coaching. Boxing is my passion, I absolutely love what I do. It’s a massive part of my life.” said Dee.
“The key for a fighter to work with me is to listen, do real work, and persevere. So if any fighter comes to me and can do them three and they have what it takes, we go work, I live helping fighters and working with other coaches to bring them on its a great buzz for me to.”
All this team needs now is their break out opportunity, a chance to shine and announce themselves onto the scene. They’re ready and primed and confident they can do the business.
