Sunderland’s Josh Kelly will fight Italy-based super-welterweight Xhuljo Vrenozi on May 13th at the O2 in London, live on Channel 5.
Kelly suffered the first professional defeat of his career last February to Russia’s David Avanesyan, the latter forcing a stoppage inside the first six with Kelly’s trainer Adam Booth throwing in the towel with the Russian landing big blows. Since then, the former 2016 Olympian has left Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and signed with the Sauerland brothers under their new ‘Wasserman Boxing‘ promotional banner, and will hope to resume his career with a victory in May before re-climbing the rankings of major governing bodies.
Vrenozi may be a familiar name to British fight fans, losing to Linus Udofia inside three rounds in October.
