Errol Johnson‘s Black Country Boxing announced their final show of the season for July 30th at Birmingham’s Eastside Rooms. Rio 2016 Olympian Qais Ashfaq is set to appear, as is Coventry lightweight Dylan Cheema who secured victory in the BOXXER Series earlier in the year.
Leeds’ Ashfaq hasn’t fought since December of 2020 when he stopped Ashley Lane inside four in what was his first fight back since a shock defeat to Marc Leach two months earlier. The twenty-nine-year-old was all set to appear in Rotherham before the fight fell off last minute, and now plans to return at the end of the month as he again seeks to regain some momentum in the professional ranks.
Cheema meanwhile successfully outpointed Stu Greener in a four-round contest that was a tad tougher than many expected last timeout in his first fight since his victory in BOXXER’s lightweight tournament in April. More valuable rounds will be sought by the Coventry man on July 30th as his professional development continues.
Also scheduled to appear on the show on Woodcock Street is Birmingham 140-pounder Tommy Collins. The twenty-four-year-old has been successful in all five of his professional contests so far and stepped up in a six-rounder last time out where he ran out a comfortable winner on the cards. Hereford middleweight Liam O’Hare will also hope to maintain his unbeaten record in his fourth pro outing, having won all twelve rounds he has endured so far. Worcester’s super-welterweight James Scarrott won all four rounds on his professional debut in Dudley last month and seeks a second win under his belt this time around, and Telford lightweight Macauley Owen, who has won all three of his fights so far including one knockout, hopes to add a fourth victory to his resume.
