Commonwealth super-bantamweight champion Nina Hughes made the first successful defence of her title against Flora Machela in Essex.
Hughes picked up the vacant belt three months ago with a majority-decision victory over Tysie Gallagher and went one better on Saturday night with a second-round stoppage of Tanzania’s Machela.
The victory marked Hughes’ second stoppage in four outings as a professional and a shot at world honours cannot be far away for the forty-year-old.
Welterweight prospect Dee Allen moved to 4-0-0 with a unanimous ten-round victory against Cindy Espinoza, while in-form journeyman Lewis Van Poetsch picked up his second consecutive victory, forcing Navid Iran to retire after the fourth in their light-heavyweight contest.
Super-middleweight George O’Leary marked a successful professional debut with a dominant four-round victory over Seamus Devlin.
