Chris Eubank Jnr and Liam Smith are now reportedly in talks for a middleweight clash for late 2022 or early 2023.

The bout is being pencilled for either December 17th or ‘early next year’, according to Chris McKenna of the Daily Star.

Eubank Jnr’s October 8th showdown with Conor Benn was postponed at the eleventh hour due to the latter testing positive for banned substance clomifene.

Smith meanwhile last appeared in September where he overcame former sparring partner Hassan Mwakinyo inside four rounds.

The Liverpudlian Smith, who normally operates down at super-welterweight, signed a promotional deal with BOXXER and Sky Sports in search of a big fight as he enters the final stages of his career.

All the belts at 154lbs are currently tied up with undisputed champion Jermell Charlo taking on Tim Tszyu in January, and with Eubank Jnr also in hunt of a big name that fight makes sense to take place next.
