Sheffield’s Karl Sampson has called for a clash with Liverpool’s Brian Phillips if Michael Gomez Jnr vacates his super-featherweight Central Area title.

Phillips originally tweeted Eddie Hearn urging the promoter to feature him on a Liverpool show on March 11th.

“March 11th Liverpool? @EddieHearn want an exciting Liverpool lad on the show get in touch with Steve Wood. I’ll be ready for then, in top 10 fights of the year 2 years in a row”, said Phillips original tweet.

Sampson then responded offering a fight against the Liverpudlian Phillips potentially for the Central Area super-featherweight title which is currently held by Gomez Jnr.

“Hearing central area title is going vacant at super-featherweight. Get me vs Brian Phillips…”, said Sampson.

Phillips duly accepted the notion and promised to deliver plenty of tickets for who ‘would love to see me win my first belt at the arena’.

The show is set to be headlined by light-heavyweight Callum Smith who will look to keep busy ahead of a fight against the winner of Artur Beterbiev versus Anthony Yarde on January 28th.

Smith is mandatory challenger for the WBC title currently held by Beterbiev.
