The main event of Boxxers Paris card on Saturday night saw heavyweight Carlos Takam (40-7-1, 28 KOs) defeat Olympic gold medalist Tony Yoka (11-2, 9 KOs) by split decision. 42 year old Takam has shared the ring with the likes of Joe Joyce, Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora, Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin– coming up short against all of these big names at an elite level. However, despite his age and turning over as a professional back in 2005 he still wants to be in the mix of top heavyweights.

After the bout Takam called out Martin Bakole (18-1, 13 KOs):

“Is Martin Bakole ready? I want Sky to organise that fight.” declared Takam!

The pair are linked through their opponent, with Bakole beating Yoka in his last bout on a points decision. The fight would also be relatively easy to make with Bakole been signed under boxxer.

Bakoles only loss came from tough American Micheal Hunter (20-1-2) in 2018, who stopped him in the final round at York Hall. Hunter has only ever lost to Olexasyndr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) by unanimous decision- who is now unified world champion and arguably the worlds top pound for pound fighter.

This leaves the question as to whether Takam still has it in him to beat 29 year old Bakole who is arguably still in his fighting prime.

However, with the younger man having only 2 bouts in the last 2 years it could be argued that his inactivity may have caused a hinderance and also him lacking big name fights on his record, in what is a tough division to make way to the top.
