Anthony Joshua took a dominant victory against Jermaine Franklin at the O2 arena in London last weekend. The 33-year-old completely out classed the American to earn a unanimous decision. It was a needed win for the former heavyweight champion as he was coming off two straight losses to Oleksandr Usyk. This win puts Joshua back on track to regain his belts because you can now make the argument that another victory can put him back in the title picture. There are some great fighters in the heavyweight division at this moment in time, which means there are a lot of options to matchup Joshua with.

Deontay Wilder
This is a fight that should’ve happened years ago as they were both heavyweight title holders
simultaneously. Joshua held the IBO, IBF, WBA, WBO titles, and Wilder held the WBC title. Yet, the two fighters never met due to negotiations falling through. In 2023 they are in similar situations as they have both lost their titles, and both failed to regain the belts they have lost. As previously stated, Joshua is coming off a win against Franklin, Wilder is also coming off a win where he knocked out Robert Helenius. It would be interesting to see how the fight would playout, as both fighters realistically have one last chance to make a title run. You could argue that Joshua possesses the better pure boxing ability, whereas Wilder has the advantage when it comes to punching power. This fight would draw a lot of attention from the boxing world. The reason for this is that both fighters are massive names in the heavyweight division, and it is a dream fight for many fans around the world. Joshua and Wilder are two of the best heavyweights of this time, it would be great to see them face off in the ring.

Andy Ruiz Jr
A trilogy fight between these two rivals seems like a logical option for Joshua’s next opponent. These two competitors met twice back in 2019. In the first meeting Ruiz knocked out Joshua at Madison Square Garden in New York, this was Joshua’s first professional loss. The second meeting was held later that year in Saudi Arabia, where Joshua got his revenge by taking a decision victory. The fighters each have one win over the other, this leaves the door open to a potential third fight between the pair. There is a possibility that the fight would have a similar outcome to their second meeting. This is due to the fact that Joshua was able to use his reach advantage to neutralise Ruiz’s attacks. With neither fighter having their next bout scheduled, there should be no obstacles getting in the way of a deal being made.

Joe Joyce
The fighter from London has taken the British heavyweight scene by storm. After a glorious amateur career Joyce turn pro in 2017, he has made a name for himself by knocking out the likes of Joseph Parker and Daniel Dubois. However, you could argue that Joyce has not yet fought an elite superstar, and Joshua could be a perfect next opponent for Joyce. It is important to note that Joyce has a fight scheduled for April 15 th against Zhilei Zhang. It is safe to say that Joyce needs to win this fight to be able to compete against Joshua. It would be an intriguing fight as both men like to be the aggressor in their fights historically. Whoever is victorious in the contest would put themselves clearly in the number one contender spot. Out of all the options this seems like the fight that would intrigue people the most as they are two high level British athletes. Joshua will be looking to build on the momentum he achieves from the Franklin victory as he looks to become a three-time champion.
