The rematch between Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr is reportedly off with the card set to proceed with Franchon Crews-Dezurn taking on Savannah Marshall in the main event, according to International Boxing News.
The fight was initially pushed back from June 17th to July 1st after Smith suffered a minor injury in training.
BOXXER planned to proceed with the contest on the new July date but it now appears the fight will not take place then either.
It is unclear whether the fight has been cancelled for good or if the rematch will be rearranged for a later date.
Smith halted Eubank Jr in the fourth-round back in January before the latter activated a rematch clause the following month.
Undisputed super-middleweight champion Crews-Dezurn was set to defend her belts against former middleweight champion Marshall in the chief support.
Reports now suggest that the fight has been promoted to the main event slot at Manchester’s AO Arena on July 1st.
Elsewhere on the card, unified super-welterweight champion Natasha Jonas is set to defend against an unnamed opponent while Mark Heffron defends his British super-middleweight belt against Zak Chelli.
BOXXER are expected to make an announcement regarding the card shortly.
