Scott Quigg set himself up for a 2013 world title fight with an impressive sixth round stoppage of Rendall Munroe in their rematch at the Manchester Arena on Saturday night on Ricky Hatton’s comeback bill.
It was a clash of the No1 and No2 ranked super-bantamweights in the country, Such was Quigg’s dominance and eventual powerful stoppage over his counterpart, really shows this Bury boys massive potential.
Quigg was hurting Munroe to the body through-out and the Leicester man just couldn’t get to grips with Quigg‘s tenacity and fight tactics. To finish the fight Quigg threw a vicious left hook that sunk into Munroe’s ribs and he was forced to take a knee.
The former world title challenger beat the count, but was dropped again moments later and was counted out by referee Terry O’Connor. Lonsdale belt holder Quigg claimed the “interim” version of the WBA’s super bantamweight world title on the night which puts him in pole position for his dream world title tilt.
