Doncaster’s Gavin McDonnell (19-1-2, 5 KOs) made a big statement in his points win over hot rising prospect Gamal Yafai (14-1, 7 KOs) on the undercard of Kell Brook vs Sergey Rabchenko at the Sheffield Arena on Saturday. Putting on a career best performance, former world title challenger McDonnell outscored Yasfai 117-113 and 116-112 twice, on the judges scorecards to keep his further world title ambitions alive. Yafai shown his inexperience but was brave and will come again.
