The iconic York Hall Leisure Centre in Bethnal Green witnessed William Webber claim the first major title of his professional career so far with a ten-round points decision over Max Lovell on Saturday night.
Referee Chas Coakley found the twenty-three-year-old Chelmsford man a 97-93 winner at the end of the contest against the then undefeated Lovell to pickup the vacant Southern Area title at super-middleweight in his eleventh professional outing.
The undercard on the night saw Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab handed the first defeat of his career so far in his twenty-third contest over Liam Dillon at super-featherweight via majority decision, with the three ringside officials scoring the bout 114-114, then 111-117 and 114-115 in the Londoner’s favour. Wahab’s record now stands at 22-1-0 respectively, while Dillon now moves to 12-0-1.
Ellis Steward enjoyed a successful professional debut with a 39-37 victory over Robbie Chapman at super-middleweight, while heavyweight Tom Simmons moved to 2-0-0 with a four-round points victory over Jake Darnell.
