Matchroom Boxing have confirmed the undercard lineup for Leigh Wood‘s WBA featherweight title defence versus Mauricio Lara next month.
The event will take place at the Nottingham Arena on February 18th in the Brit’s home city.
Wood was announced as the sole champion under the WBA at 126lbs last month after ‘Super’ champion Leo Santa Cruz was officially stripped.
The 34-year-old was set to take on Mexico’s Lara in September last year before an arm injury sustained in training forced the bout to be cancelled.
Sheffield’s Dalton Smith (13-0-0, 10KOs) will take on London’s Billy Allington (10-1-4) in the second defence of Smith’s British super-lightweight title.
Cruiserweight Cheavon Clarke (4-0-0, 4KOs) also clashes with experienced Dec Spelman (19-6-0, 9KOs) in a final eliminator for the English belt currently held by Luke Watkins.
The card in the East Midlands will also witness a return for Irish lightweight Gary Cully (15-0-0, 9KOs) who collides with Puerto Rican Wilfredo Flores (10-0-1, 5KOs) over ten rounds.
Gamal Yafai (19-2-0, 11KOs) is set to fight Diego Ruiz (23-6-1, 12KOs) at super-bantamweight, while super-welterweight Kieron Conway (18-3-1, 4KOs) will also feature.
Super-welterweight Junaid Bostan (4-0-0, 4KOs) and super-bantam Nico Leivars (3-0-1) are also set to appear.
The card marks Matchroom’s first show of 2023.
