Matchroom Boxing have announced that Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist Galal Yafai will return Stateside to take on Mexico’s Moises Calleros on April 8th.
Yafai will face former world title challenger Calleros at San Antonio’s Boeing Centre in Texas next month for his fourth pro outing since turning over in February last year.
The Birmingham man halted his first two opponents inside the distance before facing a sterner test last time out against Gohan Rodriguez Garcia in Abu Dhabi.
Yafai was taken the full ten-round distance for the first time and emerged victorious by way of split-decision in an early gut-check for the 30-year-old.
Calleros meanwhile challenged WBC flyweight champion Julio Cesar Martinez, losing in the second round after weighing over the 108lb limit at the fight week weigh-in.
The 33-year-old has lost ten times in 47 outings and has been stopped four times inside the distance so far.
Rising star Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez headlines the card as he challenges Cristian Gonzalez for the vacant WBO flyweight title.
Unified super-bantamweight champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev also defends versus Marlon Tapoles.
