BOXXER have confirmed the full undercard for Joshua Buatsi‘s light-heavyweight encounter with Pawel Stepien on May 6th in Birmingham.
Among the fighters set to feature is the city’s own light-heavyweight Ben Whittaker (2-0-0, 1KO) who takes on Jordan Grant (6-3-0) over six rounds in his third professional outing.
Whittaker secured silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and is touted as one of the brightest up-and-coming prospects in Britain.
The 25-year-old, trained by Michigan trainer Sugar Hill Steward, bagged a second-round knockout in his professional debut in July before winning a wide decision on points less than a month later.
A shoulder injury forced Whittaker to sit the remainder of the year out but he now returns against Scotland’s Grant who has only been stopped once in his three defeats.
Elsewhere on the card, Whittaker’s Olympic teammate Lauren Price (3-0-0, 1KO) also features in her fourth professional contest since turning pro last year.
Price secured welterweight gold in Tokyo and has won all three of her outings so far, including one inside the distance, and looks to move to 4-0 next month in the West Midlands.
An opponent is yet to be confirmed for the 28-year-old at the time of writing.
Super-lightweights Kaisee Benjamin (16-2-1, 6KOs) and Sean McComb (15-1-0, 5KOs) also clash over ten rounds, while Cori Gibbs (17-1-0, 3KOs) and Jimmy First (14-1-0, 4KOs) rematch at lightweight.
First, 41, defeated Gibbs in November after the latter was deducted a total of three points for persistently spitting out his gum shield.
Former British light-heavyweight champion Shakan Pitters (17-2-0, 6KOs) also takes on Joel McIntyre (20-6-0, 5KOs).
BOXXER have also teased a ‘special announcement’ in the chief support which will come at a later date.
