British heavyweight Joe Joyce will rematch China’s Zhilei Zhang on September 23rd in London following the latter’s victory in their initial heavyweight encounter in April.
The Wembley Arena will host the return live on the newly-named TNT Sports.
Zhang raised eyebrows with a sixth-round victory against Joyce two months ago after the fight was stopped on the advice of the ringside doctor.
The 40 year old was dominant from the opening bell, regularly stinging Joyce with pinpoint straight left hand’s through the Brit’s guard.
Joyce’s right eye began to swell in the second round before closing entirely in the following rounds, leading to his first pro defeat in his 16th contest.
Zhang’s record stands at 25-1-1, the only loss being a controversial unanimous decision defeat to Filip Hrgovic in August last year.
Undercard fights are still to be confirmed at the time of writing.
