Matchroom announce deal to stage fights in Japan

Matchroom Boxing have announced a new deal which will see them stage three major events in the territory each year.

The deal sees the promotional outfit team up with Japan-based companies Rakuten and ‘Never Say Never’ to host shows in the territory over the next three years.

Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that a press conference will take place in Tokyo over ‘the coming days’ to announce further details.

Matchroom have expanded into various global territories since teaming up with DAZN in the United States four years ago.

Shows have already taken place in the US, Mexico, Spain, Italy and Australia.

The events in Japan will be shown live on DAZN internationally except in Asian territories.
