‘And the NEW’ WBA light-welterweight Champion Amir Khan
Amir Khan has been promoted by the WBA as their super world light welterweight ahead of his rematch with Lamont Peterson, which will take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas on May 19.

Khan, 25, from Bolton, lost his WBA and IBF belts on a highly disputed split decision in Peterson’s hometown of Washington DC in December last year.

Britain’s former Olympic silver-medallist has been disputing the verdict ever since, after the controversial events surrounding the fight.

I’m delighted. This is great news and a real boost for me coming into the return.” – Amir Khan.

Now that the rematch has been agreed, the WBA have restored their belt to Khan and he will carry it with him into the ring on the night of the fight.
