Blackpool’s Brian ‘The Lion’ Rose will feature on Matchroom’s big Bolton show when he takes on the durable Bulgarian Alexey Ribchev on June 29.

Rose who recently won the Lonsdale belt outright at light-middleweight is on the brink of a world title shot and nearly got WBA Interim title shot against Australia’s Anthony Mundine.

His new promoter Eddie Hearn was in talks with Mundine and his representatives but that fight unfortunately couldn’t be made. So Rose will take on Ribchev to keep himself busy until another opportunity hopefully arises.

“Ribchev is a seasoned pro, but on paper it’s not one of the toughest fights I’ve had this year because I’ve had some really tough fights. But I’ll not be looking past him and I hope to put in a good, crisp performance.” said Rose at today’s press conference in Manchester.

“I was supposed to be fighting Anthony Mundine but it fell through, It shows how far I’ve come and I’m looking forward to the 29th of June against an opponent who has never been stopped.”
