We have been following the successes of Kofi Yates for a number of years from his amateur days boxing for Steve and Shaun Egan at Egans Boxing Academy in Wythenshawe, Manchester and have always been impressed with his attitude and come forward, crowd pleasing, all action style!
You always knew if Kofi Yates was on at the local Woodhouse Park Centre or the like, you were in for a good night of boxing. Now a professional with two wins from two contests, he is trained by former fighter and now respected coach Anthony ‘Arnie’ Farnell and is coming on leaps and bounds, as he matures into a pro.
Kofi has his third fight in Bolton, on a Steve Wood’s V.I.P Promotion on July 20 at the Reebok Stadium, opponent TBC.
BritishBoxers caught up with the Wythenshawe prospect at Arnie’s this week to see how things are going for Kofi and to get his views on the big fight between Frankie Gavin and Denton Vassell for the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles. And also one of his best friends from the amateur days Tyson Fury’s proposed fight against David Haye.
Kofi came through the same gym as Tyson Fury and the heavyweight boxed on some of them shows that I mentioned previously and Kofi picks his friend to win should he and Haye meet.
