Manchester’s Terry ‘Turbo’ Flanagan retains his WBO lightweight title with a unanimous points win over Derry Mathews in Liverpool on Saturday night.

Flanagan, fighting in Mathews’ back yard at the Echo Arena, was making the second defence of the belt he won last year against Jose Zepeda.

Judges scored the fight 115-112, 117-110, 117-110 in favour of Flanagan.

Flangagan could now be lined up for a all Mancunian unification fight against fellow world champion Anthony Crolla, should Crolla overcome Venezuela’s Ismael Barroso in the first defence of his belt.
