In spite of the fight seemingly being agreed, as Amanda Serrano continues to dig her heels in over a meeting with Katie Taylor, Chantelle Cameron has emphasised her eagerness to take on Ireland’s two-weight world champion.
Now trained by Jamie Moore and benefiting from elite sparring in Manchester, Cameron revealed to BBTV that she will ensure she is ready for August should the call come in for a date with Taylor.
Revealing why the clash is one she desires, Cameron detailed: “I’m going to make sure I’m ready either way, I don’t want to have any excuses and I don’t want to have to turn the fight down. I’m going to make sure I’m ready. If they decide that I’m the only option then they’re going to have to take me, so I’ll make sure I’m ready.
“It’s my dream fight, it’s the fight that I want because Katie is an unbelievable boxer and what she has done for female boxing is amazing. But, at the end of the day, somebody has to beat her – everybody’s beatable and I want to beat her and take that crown and make my own history.”
The former GB star cited her ‘relentless pressure and her power’ as key weapons that she believes would cause Taylor problems if they did collide. She added: “It’s not even like I just come forward and am just hunting them down, if I hit her I will hurt her. So if she does want to trade off with me, I’m the stronger boxer.”
