Esteemed boxing promoter Lou Dibella has secured the promotional rights for the planned IBF final eliminator between light-heavyweights Joshua Buatsi and Jean Pascal.
Dibella entered a winning bid of $975,000, ahead of Buatsi’s promoter Matchroom Boxing‘s respective sum of $875,000. The winner of the clash will be in line to face current IBF titleholder Artur Beterbiev.
It has also emerged that the contest could potentially be shown live on BT Sport after Dibella struck a deal with Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions. Warren confirmed the agreement on social media, posting on Tuesday, “Delighted Lou Dibella has won the purse bid for Pascal v Buatsi. We will be working with Lou to stage this great fight in the UK. Details to follow“.
Britain’s Buatsi edged a close fight with fellow Londoner Craig Richards in May after twelve rounds, while Pascal unanimously outpointed Fanlong Meng over twelve rounds in the same month. The Canadian tested positive for multiple performance-enhancing drugs in 2021, including EPO.
