BOXXER’s Ben Shalom told iFL TV on Thursday that the highly-anticipated clash between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall for the undisputed middleweight champion will take place on either the 3rd or 10th September, confirming that both fighters have now signed for the bout to take place.
The fight was initially scheduled to take place in July before a minor operation to Marshall’s arm forced a delay of around five weeks. The pair have engaged in a long war of words which originally dates back to Marshall’s victory over the American Shields in the amateurs, the only defeat in Shields’ career to date as both an amateur and pro.
Fingers-crossed that the anticipated showdown between two of female boxing’s pound-for-pound stars takes place in September and the number one middleweight in the world can finally be crowned.
