Undefeated Walsh, 27, by nature always seems to be in a great fight, he battled against Maxwell Awuku over 12 hard rounds to win the Commonwealth title in 2010 and then defended the belt twice in 2011. Those two fights were against Jon Kays and then the fight of the year candidate against Paul Appleby. 2012 was a quite year for Walsh, he had just the one fight, stepping up to lightweight for a shot at the WBO’s European belt, Walsh stopped Domenico Urbano in the eighth. Last year Walsh won both his fights, coming through a tough battle against former two-time world champion Scott Harrison in April, in defence of his WBO European belt, he then inflicted the first loss to unbeaten Mancunian Joe Murray, both were impressive results. In his next fight Walsh gets the opportunity to add the British title to his Commonwealth and other straps, when he faces Doncaster’s former British champion Gary Sykes for the Vacant Lonsdale belt. Walsh’s Commonwealth title will also be on the line at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday February 15, in what should be a fantastic domestic tussle. If Walsh was to defeat Sykes and become British champion it could open up a few doors for him and a world title fight would then be in his sights. Never in a dull fight, but will need to be on his A game to beat Sykes and remain unbeaten and the jury is still out but defiantly a fighter of talent and could the dark horse of the UK unbeatens.
