Carl Frampton is probably the most popular Northern Irish boxer since Barry McGuigan the former featherweight world champion. who now manages and promotes ‘The Jackal’ – Unbeaten and never looking close to defeat in his 4 year pro career to date, Frampton is also trained by McGuigan’s son Shane, he is on the verge of a world title shot and looks to be getting better. He claimed the Commonwealth belt in 2011, stopping Mark Quon in 4-rounds and then the following year picked up the IBF Inter-Continental with a win over unbeaten Mexican Raul Hirales (UD12). Frampton added to that impressive performance with a victory over former world champion Steve Molitor, before dispatching Kiko Martinez (TKO9) (Martinez has since become world champion) picking up the European strap. In his last fight Frampton stopped Frenchman Jeremy Parodi in the 6th round. Martinez is now the IBF champion after defeating Jhonatan Romero in August and talks are apparently taking place for Frampton to rematch Martinez for a shot at his new title. If Frampton wins that fight and there is no reason he shouldn’t going off form, then a fight against Scott Quigg would be one of the biggest UK fights to be made in 2014. Both boxers want the fight and when the time is right, this fight will happen and what a British boxing feast that one will be. Carl Frampton on Twitter: @RealCFrampton
