Sheffield stylist Kell Brook was due to face American Devon Alexander for the IBF world welterweight title in May. But just a month before the fight was to take place he was forced to pull out after suffering another injury. The fight had already been re-schedule twice. Alexander instead took on Brook’s Matchroom stable mate Lee Purdy. The Brit did his best, but coming in late did him no favours and he was pulled out by his corner after 7 rounds. Alexander has since lost his title after dropping a decision to Shawn Porter in December. Brook is the No1 challenger for the IBF’s welterweight belt and is in line to face Porter this year. Both will have warm up fights before facing each other. The new champion may take a voluntary defence before facing the Sheffield man and Brook too is keen to get a tune up fight before taking on the aggressive Porter. Brook fought twice in 2013 with impressive wins over Carson Jones (TKO8) and Vyacheslav Senchenko (TKO4). Brook is regarded has one of the most naturally talented British boxers currently plying their trade and in 2014 hopes to finally get the world title fight he craves. Brook holds the longest unbeaten run in British boxing. Kell Brook on Twitter: @SpecialKBrook
